- Captain Vigo who trained on the flight simulator
A one-day pilot training workshop on ‘Flight Simulator’ was successfully conducted on Thursday in the Aerospace Engineering Department of Geetham School of Technology. Captain Vigo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Space Gen participated as the chief guest and trainer for this program.
Dean-Core Engineering Professor Ramashasrthi Vedala, Director, School of Technology, who presided over the inaugural program, explained the importance of hands-on experience in piloting systems. It is recommended that every student in aerospace should participate in an internship or industry training program for at least one month to three months and gain self-experience. They want to identify suitable industries for students, interact with them and get valuable training opportunities. They assured that they will provide the necessary cooperation. Geetham promised to start a student wing of the Aeronautical Society in Hyderabad and the required fees would be paid by the organization amidst the cheers of the students.
Capt. Vigo informed that he is organizing this workshop with the aim of improving the career prospects of aspiring aerospace engineers besides bridging the gap between industry and academic institutions. Explaining the importance of practical experience in the field, he said that as many as 400 of those trained at his academy have been selected as pilots and twenty of his students in the recent passing out parade.
Captain Vigo Githam trained the students in operating the flight simulator. The entire process from the plane’s landing to take-off was explained. Students were given a flight simulator experience by demonstrating how to control the aircraft, high flying maneuvers, dip stick landing while the engine is in the air.
On this occasion, they promised to arrange a visit to Air India, Air Traffic Control and Indian Air Force stations for Geetam Aerospace students under the auspices of their aeronautical society. Along with a visit to Dundigal Air Force Academy, a face-to-face interaction with the pilots will also be arranged, and arrangements will be made to see for themselves flight control, landing techniques, reducing high speed and easy landing by parachute.
First, Dr. MD Akhtar Khan, Head of Department of Aerospace Engineering welcomed the guests and explained the challenges faced by pilots in this field and their responsibilities. The workshop ended with the valedictory address by Dr. S. Kishore Kumar, the program coordinator.
