New Delhi: Majority of exit polls conducted after the conclusion of voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly have projected a clear edge for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), signaling its strong comeback in the national capital. The polls, released following the final vote on Wednesday, suggest that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will be in second place, while Congress is expected to finish a distant third.
In what was a fiercely competitive contest between Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP and the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, tried to make an impact but appears to have fallen short, according to the exit poll projections.
The P-Marq Exit Poll predicts a significant win for the BJP, with the party likely to secure between 39 and 49 seats, comfortably crossing the halfway mark of 35 seats required for a majority. The AAP is projected to win between 21 and 31 seats, while Congress is expected to secure a negligible 0-1 seats in the 70-member assembly. The poll did not predict any seats for other parties or independent candidates.
Meanwhile, the JVC Exit Poll has a similar outlook, forecasting the BJP to win between 39 and 45 seats, again well above the majority mark. AAP is predicted to win between 22 and 31 seats, while Congress is likely to secure 0-2 seats.
The Matrize Exit Poll paints a slightly closer picture, suggesting that AAP could garner between 32 and 37 seats, while the BJP is predicted to win 35-40 seats. Like the other polls, Congress is anticipated to win between 0-1 seats.
In a more optimistic prediction for the BJP, the Chanakya Strategies Exit Poll gives the party 39-44 seats, signaling another strong performance for the national party in Delhi. The AAP is forecasted to win between 25 and 28 seats, while Congress is projected to secure 2-3 seats.
With the exit polls consistently indicating a lead for the BJP, all eyes are now on the final results, which are expected to confirm whether the predictions hold true. The Delhi Assembly election has been a high-stakes battle, and these early exit poll numbers give the BJP the confidence it needs to look toward another term in power in the national capital.
The election results will be declared on the designated date, but with the BJP seemingly on track for victory, the contest between AAP and Congress appears to be a race for second place.
