Govt Hospital : Eye operation fails .. Family Files Complaint Against Doctor

The incident took place in Nellore district when her eye had to be removed due to serious complications during an eye operation at a government hospital. According to the victim’s family members, a woman named P. Lakshmamma, a resident of Gauravaram village in Ananthasagaram mandal in the district, underwent a cataract operation at the Atmakur District Hospital on the 21st of this month. She was discharged from the hospital on the 22nd. Later, she came to the hospital on the 25th for tests as her eye was watering due to infection.

Speaking to them, Dr. Sharvani, who performed the surgery, said that this must have happened due to some defect in the eye and sent her to Nellore. They said that Dr. Sharvani, who came to the hospital while she was undergoing treatment in Nellore, sent her to another hospital in Tirupati and paid them for her travel expenses. The victims said that when the patient was shown to the Tirupati hospital, the doctors said that the eye was badly infected and that injections should be given there, and that depending on the situation, the eye should be removed.

The victims are complaining that they are not in a position to get her treatment in Tirupati. The victims are saying that when they informed the doctor who performed the eye operation about her eye, the doctor said that if she loses her eye, he will give her certificates to get pension. The victim’s family members have filed a complaint against the doctor who performed the eye operation with the superintendent in charge of the Atmakur District Government Hospital regarding this incident.
