Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir – A joint operation by security forces is currently underway in the Hiranagar sector’s Saniyal area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, following intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists in the region. According to officials, the operation was launched on March 23 by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with the troops of the Rising Star Corps.
The area remains under heavy security surveillance as the encounter continues, with forces focusing on neutralizing the suspected terrorists. The operation was initiated after specific intelligence inputs were received regarding the presence of armed militants in the area, prompting authorities to act swiftly.
During the ongoing exchange of fire, a seven-year-old girl named Anchal was injured. Sources confirm that she sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the confrontation and was immediately evacuated to the Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua for treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable, and she is receiving medical care.
According to sources, four to five terrorists are suspected to have infiltrated the region. A local couple, who were working in their fields nearby, noticed armed individuals in the area and promptly alerted security forces. This tip-off triggered the large-scale search operation in the Saniyal region.
The encounter comes amid increased vigilance in the region due to recent infiltration attempts. Security agencies have been on high alert, especially following reports of similar incidents in neighboring areas. Despite the ongoing operation, no official statement has been released by the police regarding any casualties or arrests made during the exchange of fire.
