PM Modi leaves for France today to co-chair AI Summit, strengthen bilateral ties

New Delhi, Feb 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day official visit to France on Monday, where he will co-chair the third edition of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.

Scheduled for February 11, the summit will be a crucial milestone in the global discourse on the future of artificial intelligence. It follows the success of previous editions held in the United Kingdom (2023) and South Korea (2024), continuing the momentum of international collaboration in this rapidly evolving field.

Upon his arrival in Paris, PM Modi will attend a prestigious dinner hosted by President Macron at the Elysee Palace. The event will be a gathering of heads of government and state, as well as distinguished leaders from various sectors, including top executives from the tech industry. This occasion promises to be an important platform for fostering international cooperation on AI and other global challenges.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri provided insights to the media, highlighting the significance of this visit in strengthening the already robust strategic partnership between India and France.

The AI Action Summit on February 11 will serve as the focal point of the visit, with PM Modi joining global leaders to engage in discussions on the responsible and ethical development of AI technologies. As AI continues to play an increasingly pivotal role in shaping the global economy, the summit aims to encourage greater cooperation to ensure its positive impact on society.

In addition to the summit, PM Modi’s visit will include several high-level bilateral engagements with President Macron. The two leaders are expected to address the India-France CEOs Forum, where they will focus on expanding trade, technology cooperation, and strategic partnerships. These talks will take place in both restricted and delegation-level formats, aiming to further strengthen the ties between the two nations.

The visit will also include a tour of Cadarache, the site housing the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a groundbreaking scientific collaboration in which India plays a significant role. The visit to ITER underscores India’s commitment to advancing global scientific efforts in the field of nuclear energy and sustainable development.

PM Modi’s visit to France will conclude on February 12, after which he will travel to the United States for a two-day visit from February 12-13, at the invitation of President Donald Trump. This will mark his first visit to the US since the inauguration of President Trump’s second term. The visit is expected to provide a valuable opportunity for dialogue on various areas of mutual interest, including trade, technology, and global security.
