Hyderabad: A sudden downpour swept across various parts of Hyderabad on Friday evening, resulting in significant waterlogging and disrupting traffic throughout the city.
The Telangana State Development Planning Society reported that Madhapur experienced the heaviest rainfall, recording 58.8 mm, closely followed by Gachibowli with 56.8 mm. The intense rainfall led to waterlogged streets along the DLF route, slowing down traffic and stranding many commuters.
Other areas severely affected by the rain included Chandanagar, which saw 41.5 mm, and Lingampally, with 38.5 mm. Further north, Kukatpally recorded 38.0 mm of rain, while Miyapur experienced 27.5 mm. Waterlogging was particularly noticeable in Madhapur and Hitex Junction, where vehicles struggled to navigate through flooded roads.
The heavy showers caused traffic slowdowns in several busy regions, including Lingampally, Gachibowli, Madhapur, and Kondapur. Commuters reported delays as they tried to make their way home, with many roads becoming impassable due to accumulated water.
Local authorities are monitoring the situation and are expected to implement measures to alleviate waterlogging in the affected areas. Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling and to stay updated on weather conditions as further rainfall is anticipated.
