Hyderabad, September 25, 2024 — The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken action against the Taj Mahal Hotel located on Abids Road by issuing a show cause notice regarding significant sanitation and hygiene issues observed at the premises.
According to a press release from the GHMC on Wednesday, the notice was prompted by a complaint about a worm found in a dish of Dal. Following the report, food safety officials conducted an inspection of the hotel on Tuesday.
The inspection revealed several alarming deficiencies, including inadequate maintenance of hygiene and sanitation standards, improper labeling of food items, and the presence of cockroaches in the storage area. These findings raised serious concerns about the safety and quality of food being served to customers.
The GHMC has demanded an explanation from the hotel management on these matters, highlighting the importance of maintaining health standards in food establishments to ensure public safety.
The hotel management has been given a specified period to respond to the notice and address the identified issues. The GHMC has emphasized its commitment to ensuring that all food service businesses adhere to strict hygiene regulations to protect consumers and maintain public health standards.
This incident serves as a reminder of the critical need for rigorous food safety practices in the hospitality industry, particularly in a bustling city like Hyderabad, where food quality and safety are paramount to the well-being of residents and visitors alike.
