Manipur: 17 Arrested at Sinai Camp During Joint Security Operation

Manipur: In a major security operation aimed at curbing illegal armed activities, a joint team comprising the Manipur Police, the Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) conducted a coordinated raid at Sinai Camp on October 23. The operation resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals who were allegedly impersonating registered cadres operating under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement.

According to officials, the arrested individuals included eight persons claiming affiliation with the Kuki National Army (KNA) and nine with the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA). Preliminary investigations indicate that they were falsely presenting themselves as authorized SoO cadres.

During the search operation, security personnel recovered a significant cache of arms and military equipment. The seizure included 24 firearms, 38 magazines, ammunition, explosives, wireless communication devices, and other combat gear, highlighting the scale of the illegal operation.

Authorities have confirmed that all 17 accused were produced before the court and have been remanded to eight days of police custody to facilitate further interrogation and investigation.

Police officials stated that the probe is continuing to determine the source of the seized weapons, identify possible links to militant networks, and uncover any wider conspiracy. Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order in Manipur through coordinated intelligence-based operations against illegal armed groups.
